Graphic Design Series
The graphic design sequence is a two-year arrangement of classes designed to provide students with entry-level skills in the field of graphic design. This sequence of classes has been structured to provide practical, hands-on experience in graphic fundamentals. Graphic design tends to be a fast-paced, deadline-driven profession that demands creativity, quick thinking, good organization, excellent technology skills and well developed communication skills.
The graphic design sequence addresses basic design principles, layout techniques, professional typographic treatments, computer applications, digital illustration, computer production techniques, offset printing requirements, and business practices. It provides the most current information, technology and equipment possible. All of the instructors are practicing professionals in the field of creative design. Students spend much of their time creating practical design pieces from initial sketches through final digital output that ultimately becomes an integral part of a professional student portfolio.
40-credit Optional Graphic Design Sequence
This course sequence does not conclude in a certificate or degree in graphic design, and therefore, as a standalone sequence, is not eligible for financial aid. However, graphic design courses, if taken within a degree such as the associate of arts and sciences-transfer degree, are financial aid eligible. For more information, contact Scott Bailey or David Hampton.
