New to Online Learning Here’s what you need to succeed in online courses.
Take the “Is Online Learning for Me?” quiz at WashingtonOnline
This short quiz will help you determine if students are ready to take on the challenge of online learning.
Check out the Learn-to-Learn Course at the WashingtonOnline Web site.
This free introduction to online learning will help students who are thinking of taking an online class for the first time or haven't spent much time using computers or the Internet. Students should feel more confident about what they are doing after reviewing this material. Topics covered include: online course navigation, how to use e-mail, how to participate in chat rooms, browser functionality, study skills and more.
Take the free Week Zero at WAOL if you have never used ANGEL as a online classroom.
Depending on a student's experience with computers, how fast they read, etc., this self-guided tutorial may take anywhere from two to ten hours to complete. The tutorial does not have to be completed in one sitting. It is very important that students take the Week Zero tutorial.
You must have an e-mail account and access to a computer with an Internet connection.
Access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection for at least five to seven days a week is essential. Almost daily participation is required to be successful in online classes.
Students also must have an e-mail account and the address for that account must be part of your student records at WVC. If you did not enter your e-mail address into the system when you applied for admission, go to the Student Kiosk and choose the link for Student Address Change. Always keep your student information current (phone, street and e-mail addresses).
If you do not have your own e-mail account, WVC does provide an e-mail account for currently registered students.
You must have a computer that meets the requirements of working in a ANGEL classroom.
Refer to the Technical Requirements page to verify that a computer is capable of working with the ANGEL environment.
