Financial Aid Forms 2013-2014

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the forms below. You may download the latest version at http://www.adobe.com. Some of the forms are interactive, allowing you to type out the needed information prior to printing the form. Don't forget to sign the form.  You may drop it off at our office (Wenatchi Hall) or mail it to:

Wenatchee Valley College
Financial Aid Office
1300 Fifth Street
Wenatchee, WA 98801

***IMPORTANT!!*** Be sure to use the correct forms and documentation . Use of incorrect forms and documentation will delay processing.

Please note that the 2013-2014 financial aid year will be FOUR (4) quarters with Summer 2014 being a "Trailer" quarter at the end of the year. That means for Summer 2014 aid, we will be using the 2013-2014 FAFSA. The quarters for the 2013-2014 year will be:

  • Fall 2013
  • Winter 2014
  • Spring 2014
  • Summer 2014

What this means for you: PLAN ACCORDINGLY. Students who receive Pell Grant at the full-time level each quarter will only receive 3 quarters of Pell Grant. If you take a lighter load during some quarters, your aid will be adjusted those quarters and you can use any remaining Pell Grant in Summer 2014. Student loans have an annual limit as well, so keep the 4-quarter year in mind when filling out your loan requests. Remember that there are also lifetime limits for grants and loans.

 2013-2014 Verification Worksheet - Dependent

*NEW FORM
AND
INSTRUCTIONS FOR
2013-2014,
READ
CAREFULLY*
>If your application has been selected for a process called verification and you had to list your parents information on your financial aid application (FAFSA), you will need this form.

Verification is a process where our office will be comparing information that was listed on your FAFSA to copies of your and your parents tax information. If there are differences from what was reported, we may need to make a correction to your application.

Complete this worksheet, following directions carefully. The answers to the questions will determine the types of documents - if any - that you will need to submit in addition to the worksheet.  Submit the worksheet with any required documents. Make sure that you and one of your parents sign this form.

***CAUTION!*** Be careful to check the box that says you used the IRS Retrieval Tool ONLY if you DID use it AND made no changes to the data retrieved. If this item is incorrectly checked and there is no tax transcript attached, your file will be incomplete and processing delayed until you request and submit your tax transcripts from the IRS.

Also please note that if you are just now making the correction to your FAFSA to retrieve your tax data, it is helpful to wait a couple of days before turning in your worksheet, until you know that the new student aid report with the retrieved data has processed.

Loans
Loans, unlike grants or work-study, are borrowed money that must be repaid, with interest. These are real loans-just like car loans or mortgages. You cannot have these loans canceled because you didn't like the education you received or because you're having financial difficulty. These loans are a serious obligation, so think about the amount you'll have to repay over the years before you take out a loan. Please read instructions carefully and submit the appropriate Loan worksheet for the loan(s) you are requesting.

150%
Subsidized Loan Rule
Info Sheet
On July 6, 2012, a new provision was added to the Direct Loan statutory requirements that limits a new borrower's eligibility for Direct Subsidized Loans to a period not to exceed 150 percent of the length of the borrower's educational program. Under certain conditions, the provision also causes new borrowers who have exceeded the 150 percent limit to lose the interest subsidy on their Direct Subsidized loans.

To find out how the 150 Percent Rule affects you and your student loan, download the information sheet to the left and also visit studentloans.gov for additional information.
