Student Loans
Loans, unlike grants or work-study, are borrowed money that must be repaid, with interest. These are real loans—just like car loans or mortgages. You cannot have these loans canceled because you didn't like the education you received or because you're having financial difficulty. These loans are a serious obligation, so think about the amount you'll have to repay over the years before you take out a loan.
To apply for a federal Stafford loan (Subsidized and /or Unsubsidized), you must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Student Loan Worksheet. The worksheet is your written permission for the Financial Aid Office to transmit necessary loan information to your lender, who will then process your federal Stafford Loan(s). The worksheet is returned to the Financial Aid Office.
- New worksheets are being processed, in the meantime contact the Financial Aid office.
Release of Information
To allow the college to discuss the status of your financial aid award with your parents or another person, a Release of Information (PDF) form must be completed and returned to our office.
Special Circumstances:
If you would like to be considered for a reevaluation of your financial aid award because of DECREASED RESOURCES and/or CHANGE OF CIRCUMSTANCES since you completed your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), you may submit a Revision Request. Please keep in mind that financial aid funds are limited and our response may depend on the funds available. In addition, adjustments are subjects to federal and institutional guidelines. Generally, requests are met with Federal Stafford Loan (subsidized and unsubsidized) or Parent Loan (PLUS). Processing time varies from as little as two weeks to several months during the peak processing period. We will send an award letter to you if we are able to offer additional aid or we will notify you in writing if your request is denied. Please keep in mind that the revisions are year specific. Make sure that the form reflects the correct academic year that you are attending.
In certain circumstances, financial aid may be used to pay for student health insurance, medical/dental expenses, child care, additional books, transportation, or other educationally related costs. To request aid to pay for unusual expenses that exceed the standard budget allowances, you can use the

Students who are close to or have exceeded the maximum credits allowed for financial aid eligibility (maximum attempted credits, MAC) may appeal for an extension to our Satisfactory Progress policy when unusual circumstances beyond their control contributed to their inability to complete their degree within the allotted amount of credits.

Information Update
Students can report changes in enrollment and graduation plans, additional scholarships or resources recieved or request changes to the type of financial aid offered (i.e. workstudy to student loans) with the information update form.
Summer Aid Application
In addition to the FAFSA, a Summer Aid Application is required for all students seeking aid for the summer quarter. If you have submitted your FAFSA, you may submit (and make updates as long as our office has not already processed your application) a summer application. Summer aid applicants are awarded after April and are part of the current academic year that is associated with fall through spring quarter. Awards are based on funds available. If a student has not used up all of their aid eligibility prior to summer and if the student is in good academic standing they will be awarded for the summer. See Aid for Summer for more information.
