Scholarships

Service, business and professional organizations, as well as private citizens in the community, donate money to fund student scholarships on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, commitment to training or involvement in the community. Scholarship announcements come into the financial aid office throughout the school year. Eligibility criteria, application procedures and deadlines are posted at the financial aid office in Wenatchi Hall (phone: 509.682.6810). Click on a section heading below to learn more.

You must beware of and avoid scholarship scams and fee-based scholarship services. There is no reason to pay for lists of scholarships. By completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) you will automatically be considered for most federal and state aid and all grant funds that Wenatchee Valley College offers.

WVC does have its own scholarships, which require a separate application.  WVC scholarships are given prior to the year that the student is going to attend.  Scholarships are available to all current and prospective WVC students. WVC scholarships must be used to attend WVC.   If you are a high school senior and you attend a high school in Central Washington, you should apply for the WVC scholarship in your senior year.  WVC scholarship applications are usually available in December and must be returned by February 15.  Contact the WVC Financial Aid Office for more information.

2008-09 Scholarship Application

WVC and Foundation Scholarships

Wenatchee Valley College (WVC) awards scholarships to approximately 130 students yearly. Amounts vary up to full tuition. Applicants for all scholarships listed on this website should complete a general WVC scholarship application and submit it to the WVC financial aid office. The Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee comprised of faculty, administration, and community members, select recipients.

Scholarship applications are available from the financial aid office at (509) 682-6810 (Wenatchee) or (509) 422-7808 (Omak) and through local high school counselors.  The application may also be downloaded from this website by clicking on the scholarship application link above.

Students do not need to apply for specific scholarships, as the selection committee will match applicants with scholarship selection criteria. If you wish to be considered for scholarships that have additional application requirements (indicated by a “+” symbol), check with the WVC financial aid office for additional information. For scholarships that take financial need into consideration (indicated by a “$” symbol), file the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Scholarships are awarded for one academic year; therefore, students must re-apply each year.  Scholarship recipients must earn a 2.0 minimum GPA per quarter, unless specifically stated with the individual scholarship, to maintain eligibility during the school year.

The athletic department gives athletic awards to students who participate in one of WVC’s intercollegiate athletic teams. Inquiries regarding athletic scholarships should be directed to the athletic director or individual sport coach.

Applications for specific WVC and Foundation scholarships must be submitted through the WVC financial aid office, where a selection committee reviews all applications and ultimately determines the recipient(s). Foundation scholarship requirements may be quite different from those offered through the college. It is recommended students carefully review the criteria before applying.
