1.
Check your course name and section code on the current course
schedule to determine what books you'll need.
Examples:
- ANTH 101 WO = WAOL course section
- SOC 102 VC = WVC online course section
Books for WashingtonOnline courses are available through the WAOL
online bookstore (see #4 below) and the WVC bookstore (see
#3 below).
Books for WVC online courses are ONLY available
through the Wenatchee campus bookstore.
2. Make sure that you buy the correct edition
(used or new).
- Don't assume that textbooks used last quarter will be the same this
quarter. Editions frequently change. If you are buying a used textbook,
the best way to identify what you are getting is through the ISBN
number, a unique number that is assigned to every published book.
- After you get your textbook, double-check the information against
the instructor’s syllabus.
3. WVC bookstore: 509-682-6530
or 1-877-wvc-4you extension 6530
The WVC bookstore stocks books for all WVC online classes (section code
VC) and they can also order books for Washington Online
courses (section code WO). This is usually faster and
it offers the possibility of getting a less expensive, used copy.
For WVC online courses, call or go to the WVC bookstore.
| Using the WVC bookstore for Washington

NOTE: the WVC bookstore requires a $10.00 deposit on each title
they order for you.

5. Use the WAOL course ID to order
your WashingtonOnline books.
When you buy a book through the WashingtonOnline bookstore, you
may find that the course name and number are different from the WVC
course for which you registered. Before offering a WAOL course, WVC staff
review the content and assign to the course a name and number that corresponds
to a WVC course. For example, the WAOL course called 3000 Western Civilization
I corresponds to the WVC course HIST 101 Ancient History.
You will need to use the WAOL course number to order your books:

6. Financial aid & books
You are responsible for purchasing your own books and supplies until
grant checks are available. If waiting for your financial aid
check will cause you a hardship, please contact the financial
aid office at least two weeks prior to the start of your WAOL course
in order to discuss other options.
7. Required vs. optional books
You must purchase all the books listed for your course unless the
book title is followed by the word "recommended" or "optional."
8. Starting class without books
Never wait to begin your course until your books arrive. You will
get behind very quickly if you don't participate from the start. In
fact, a significant portion of your grade depends upon your participation.
In addition, some of your assignments, especially at the beginning,
won't even require a book. Contact your instructor by e-mail to let
her/him know why your assignments may be delayed. Make a plan for catching
up and keep your instructor informed of your progress.
