The Personal Wellness telecourse addresses those health issues
that are preventable or that can be made more manageable with proper
lifestyle choices. The course provides behavior modification skills
and techniques that can be used by the motivated student to make winning
lifestyle choices.
Course outcomes/goals and objectives
- Address the five dimensions of wellness—physical, emotional,
social, spiritual and intellectual and how these dimensions come together
in truly healthy individuals
- Offer health information that students can relate to their lives
- Challenge students to examine their own health beliefs and values,
and re-examine possible superstitions and biases in order to make
lifestyle changes to improve their quality of life and the lives of
their loved ones.
- Identify and study issues related to wellness, including stress,
self-esteem, weight management, sexuality, communicable disease, cardiovascular
disease and substance abuse.
