WVC enrollment up 11 percent

Winter-quarter enrollment at Wenatchee Valley College is up 11 percent from the same time a year ago, with the college serving 326 more full-time-equivalent students through the college’s district of Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties.

This winter, the college is serving 2,931 full-time-equivalent students, up from 2,605 from a year ago. A full-time-equivalent is equal to 15 credits, which is considered a full-time class schedule for a student.

A year ago, the college reduced its course offerings because of state budget cuts. The college is serving more students this year through such strategies as scheduling classes that benefit the most students, offering some classes through self-support funding, increasing the number of students in certain classes, and adding distance learning courses.

As separate campuses, the Omak campus is up 13 percent and the Wenatchee campus, 11 percent.
