  • Adam Health Illustrated Encyclopedia (Medline) includes over 4,000 articles about diseases, tests, symptoms, injuries, and surgeries. It also contains an extensive library of medical photographs and illustrations

  • Atlapedia Online  "contains full color physical and political maps as well as key facts and statistics on countries of the world"

    "The most comprehensive encyclopedia in the Spanish language." It includes 47,000 articles, 65,000 dictionary entries and an atlas focusing on world countries, maps, and statistics; major world cities and distribution of languages & religions. Also includes timelines of general history, art history and cultural history. Global coverage plus additional material related to the history, people, places and events of Latin America.

  • New York Public Library Picture Collection contains  30,000 digitized, public-domain images from books, magazines, postcards, etc.  There's a quick search on the front page.  An advanced search allows you to search on different fields including title, image, and source code.  Choose the "browse" to get a feel for the kinds of things they have.

  • Wikipedia: the Free Encyclopedia  "a collaborative project to produce a free and complete encyclopedia in every language"
