WVC faculty members earn awards

Two Wenatchee Valley College English faculty members, Gerald Tiffany of East Wenatchee and Derek Sheffield of Leavenworth, won 2008 honorable mention awards for their writing from the Washington Community College Humanities Association (WCCHA). Tiffany’s essay Cats was selected in the nonfiction category, and Sheffield’s poem “As Seen Through a River” in the poetry category.

The work is published in the 2008 Crosscurrents literary magazine published by the WCCHA. The association exists to promote effective, inventive and vital humanities instruction by Washington state community and technical college instructors.

Both Tiffany and Sheffield have won the top prizes for poetry in the past.
