WVC Knights baseball welcomes coach Kevin Frady

Wenatchee Valley College welcomes Kevin Frady as the new coach for Knights baseball.

Frady was head baseball coach of the Kelowna Falcons, who made consecutive West Coach League Eastern Division Playoff appearances from 2008 to 2010.

From 2006 to 2010, Frady was volunteer assistant coach for the University of Kansas Jayhawks, where he coached first base during competition and worked on skill development with the catchers. Twenty-six players were drafted during Frady’s time with the Jayhawks, who were also Big 12 Tournament champions in 2006.

In addition, Frady was the area scouting supervisor for the New York Mets for three years, evaluating amateur prospects for the annual draft, and he served as assistant coach at Edmonds Community College from 1996-98, where 11 players were selected in the annual Major League Baseball draft.

Frady said he has three goals for the 2011 Knights baseball team: to encourage them to respect the game and opportunity they have as student athletes at WVC, be better with each new day, and give their best effort in the classroom and on the field. “It is my belief that if they do these three things then everything else will take care of itself,” he said.
