Wenatchee Valley College, in partnership with the Washington State Community College Consortium for Study Abroad (WCCCSA), is offering a study abroad program for WVC students starting fall quarter 2015.

The first offering will be in Barcelona, Spain, from Sept. 28 to Dec. 5. Students must apply by June 19. A $450 deposit is also due by June 19.

To be eligible, students must have completed at least one quarter at WVC, have a 2.5 GPA or higher, and are required to take 15 credits while studying abroad. Most programs require that students be 18 or older; however, some programs allow 17-year-old students to participate.

Students will live with Spanish families, immerse themselves in day-to-day life in Barcelona, and will have frequent field trips and travel opportunities. They will take courses at Barcelona International College, including Spanish, Latin American history and multicultural societies.

The total cost of the program is $9,910.35, which includes tuition, estimated airfare, passport and travel fees, housing, breakfasts and dinners, airport pick-up, welcome and farewell lunches, orientation, insurance, educational and cultural activities, a public transit pass, three day trips outside of Barcelona, a professional workshop and some spending money. Scholarship opportunities are available, and eligible students can use financial aid to help cover some of the costs.

The next study abroad opportunities will be in spring 2016 to Berlin, Germany, and fall 2016 to London, England.
