RUNNING START COMPASS SCHEDULE
Wenatchee Campus Testing
The COMPASS is a placement tool used to assess
math, reading and writing skill levels.
THE STUDENT MAY TEST IN MARCH, APRIL, OR MAY BEFORE OR AFTER THE MANDATORY ORIENTATION AT THE STUDENT'S HIGH SCHOOL. (SEE TESTING SCHEDULE BELOW)
WHEN CALLING FOR AN APPOINTMENT: PLEASE IDENTIFY THE STUDENT AS TESTING FOR RUNNING START.
IF YOU ARE LATE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT YOU WILL HAVE TO RESCHEDULE FOR ANOTHER TIME.

To sign up for the COMPASS call Wenatchee Valley College TESTING CENTER at 682-6830. Seating is limited, you must pre-register.

The fee for COMPASS is $21.40 and must be paid at the Cashier’s Office, Wenatchi Hall (first floor) prior to taking the test (the fee may also be paid over the phone with a credit or debit card, call 682-6500 to pay).

Please bring your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER with you. Pencil and calculator will be provided. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER A NUMBER WILL BE ASSIGNED FOR TESTING PURPOSES.

Arrive 30 minutes early. COMPASS will take approximately two and a half hours.

PROHIBITED EQUIPMENT LIST If you choose to bring your own calculator, the following are not allowed at the COMPASS:
q Casio: CFX-9970G, CFX-9970GE, Algebra fx 2.0
q Texas Instruments: TI-89, TI-92, TI-92 plus
q Hewlett Packard: HP-40G and HP-49G
q Pocket organizers
q Handheld or laptop computers
q Electronic writing pads or pen-input devices
q Calculators with a typewriter (QWERTY) keypad.
q Calculators built into cellular phones or other wireless communication devices
A student must have a passing score in at least one of the three sections to qualify for the Running Start program. If a student passes one section they may only take one class. If a student passes two sections and not the third, they will be allowed to take a retest on COMPASS for that particular section after a three month waiting period. If a student does not pass any of the three areas they may retest in six months.
