The Wenatchee and Omak campuses of Wenatchee Valley College are both participating in Cinco de Mayo celebrations this month.
On Tuesday, May 5, 2009, a celebration is scheduled at the fountain area on the Wenatchee campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the Tloke Nahuake Aztec Dancers appearing at noon and the La Esperanza Folkloric Dance Group at 1 p.m. Other activities range from face painting to a dunk tank to a variety of arts, crafts and contests. Piñatas are scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
On Sunday, May 10, in Omak, the WVC at Omak students are among the sponsors of a community Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Omak Civic League Park from 1 to 6 p.m. A presentation from the Mexican consulate and entertainment by a mariachi and a folkloric dance group are among the activities.
