WVC summer quarter calendar revised

Summer quarter will begin later than in past years so new students starting this summer quarter won’t be required to fill out two financial aid applications. The revised start date is Tuesday, July 5. The quarter will end Aug. 26.

The U.S. Department of Education is implementing a new procedure that requires any college that starts summer quarter prior to July 1 to have on file Free Applications for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students for two separate years. By changing the start date to July 5, summer quarter will be the beginning of the financial aid year and WVC students will need to fill out only one form for the 2011-12 academic year, explained Kevin Berg, director of the WVC Financial Aid office.

Students attending summer-quarter courses who need financial aid will be required to complete the 2011-12 FAFSA. Students will also need to submit a supplemental summer application to the WVC Financial Aid office, which will available online during spring quarter at www.wvc.edu/directory/departments/financialaid/default.asp.

Tuition for summer-quarter classes is due Tuesday, June 21.
