Students who complete the writing skills requirement will be able to:
Demonstrate a familiarity with the writing process by producing a variety of original peer-reviewed essays, directed toward specific audiences’ needs, in a variety of contexts.
Demonstrate research skills by conducting academic research, judging relevance and credibility of sources, and using primary and secondary sources.
Skillfully incorporate such research into the text of essays by paraphrasing or direct-quoting sources, citing sources, and adhering to appropriate citation format(s), including MLA, APA, Turabian, and CSE.
Exhibit critical thinking skills (analyze, synthesize, evaluate and apply, problem solve, reason quantitatively and qualitatively), in written compositions, oral responses and presentations, and analysis of texts.
