Author Jonathan Johnson will read in Wenatchee and Omak in May as part of the Wenatchee Valley College Visiting Writers series. Johnson’s reading in Wenatchee is on Thursday, May 14 from 2-3 p.m. in The Grove Recital Hall in the Music and Art Center (MAC). His reading in Omak is Friday, May 15 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Omak Public Library. These events are free and open to the public.
Johnson is the author of seven books and a professor in the creative writing master of fine arts (MFA) program at Eastern Washington University. His newest books are “Pine,” a collection of poems nominated for a 2025 National Book Award, and “The Little Lights of Town,” his first collection of fiction, which includes stories published in Best Mircrofiction 2025, Ploughshares, Missouri Review, the Glacier, Bellevue Literary Review, terrain.org, and Mid-American Review.
Johnson’s previous work has been featured in Best American Poetry and on National Public Radio. He migrates between his hometown in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula; the Scottish Highlands, where he has family; and the Inland Northwest, where he writes in a secluded cabin.
