Wenatchee Valley College has appointed Geoff LaHaie as the vice president of finance and administrative services following an extensive, nationwide search. His first day is Aug. 10.
As vice president, LaHaie will be responsible for strengthening the college's financial health and operational sustainability. He will lead and implement an inclusive budget process and ensure fiscal compliance through financial reporting and annual audited financial statements. LaHaie will oversee the key areas of fiscal services, facilities, information technology, and safety and security.
LaHaie’s higher education experience began at Klamath Community College (KCC) in Klamath Falls, Ore. “I have always been impressed by the work of community colleges to improve students’ lives and communities, so I was excited to accept a position as director of Business Services/Controller at Klamath Community College,” LaHaie said. After two years at KCC, he was promoted to vice president of Administrative Services/Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
At KCC, he guided the college’s annual budget development, oversaw facilities planning and construction, supervised the drafting and execution of contracts, and managed accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and procurement. As CFO, LaHaie oversaw a capital project for KCC’s Apprenticeship Center, two land acquisitions, and capital outlay for a new cosmetology program.
He most recently served as interim director of Business Service at Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) in Pendleton, Ore. In this role, LaHaie coordinated annual audits and assisted in report preparation for them, and he led the selection and implementation of a new enterprise resource planning system. He also managed contracts, accounts payable and receivable, and procurement.
LaHaie has also served as the district business manager for the Oregon Department of Forestry in Klamath Falls and in a variety of roles, including director of Customer Service, at a uniform manufacturer.
A Michigan native, he has Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees from Western Michigan University. LaHaie is a proud first-generation college graduate and looks forward to relocating to the Wenatchee Valley with his wife Jeanne.
