Sandra Villarreal was born and raised in the Lower Yakima Valley. As a first generation
student, she started her education at Yakima Valley Community College and later, transferred
to Washington State University to earn her Bachelors’ in Communication. Sandra worked
in the community before pursuing a Master’s degree in Communications at St. Mary’s
University in San Antonio, Texas. In Texas, Sandra worked for Communities in Schools,
GEAR UP and Upward Bound programs. She has several years of professional experience
working with students as an advisor, mentor, advocate, case manager and now as the
Director for WVC TRIO SSS program. Sandra believes education can help individuals
create the life they want, and she is excited to help support our scholars as they
pursue their educational aspirations.

Belen Bazan, was born and raised in the Wenatchee Valley. She attended the University
of Washington-Seattle and received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Sociology with a
minor in Education, Learning and Society. She is currently pursing a Masters in Educational
Counseling at the University of Southern California (USC). She has professional background
experience working with high school and community college students. She hopes to inspire,
educate and support underserved students' in their educational journey. Belen is excited
to be working at WVC with TRIO SSS and can’t wait to meet and work with you all!
Her areas of expertise include: academic advising, transfer assistance, financial aid assistance, student development.

Jenna Shrewsbury was raised in Enumclaw Washington. As a first-generation student from
a low-income background, she earned an Associate of Arts DTA from Green River College, transferred to the University
of Washington where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and later completed graduate coursework at Central Washington University. Jenna has taught
introductory Psychology and assisted with various college-level Psychology courses.
In addition to a background in research, she has an administrative background in both
business and higher education.
Her areas of expertise include: TRIO SSS application processing, textbook and material lending, budgeting, and various
administrative duties.
