Julie Fitch, Full-Time Faculty

Julie Fitch became a part-time faculty member in the Transitional Studies at WVC in 2013. She later became the Transitional Studies coordinator in 2020, and then a faculty member in 2023. “I love working at WVC because I believe that community colleges are integral in strengthening the communities they serve and in providing students with the educational and career training opportunities that will help them advance their lives,” Julie said. “And we have the best students at WVC—strong, amazing, and hardworking. It is so inspiring to work with them each day.” 

Jennifer Freese, Director of Nursing Programs

Dr. Jenny Freese is the director of Nursing Programs at Wenatchee Valley College, where she has served in leadership roles for 18 years. In addition to her work as dean and director, she teaches in the BSN pathway program, bringing her extensive expertise into the classroom. 

Dr. Freese holds a Doctorate in Executive Leadership from American Sentinel University, a Master’s in Anesthesia Education from Gonzaga, and a BSN nursing degree from Washington State University. She is an advocate for creating healthy workspaces, recognizing that a supportive environment for faculty and staff is the foundation of a safe learning space for students.

Jack Johnson, Full-Time Faculty

Jack Johnson teaches English and poetry at WVC. In 2020, he published a book of poetry, “The Way We Came In.” His poems have also appeared in “Cascadia Field Guide,” Terrain.org, the NCW Arts Alliance newsletter, and elsewhere.

Greg Jourdan, Full-Time Faculty

Greg Jourdan has taught in the WVC Environmental Systems and Refrigeration Technology program since 1985, and he is a two-time recipient of the Alcoa Excellence in Teaching Award. His interests include energy conservation, alternative energy sources, commercial and industrial refrigeration, and computerized electronic controls.

Jim Lin, Full-Time Faculty

Dr. Ching-Han (Jim) Lin is a physics faculty member at Wenatchee Valley College. His work has been published in Physical Review Letters, Superconductor Science and Technology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Journal of Physics. 

Kristi Lindsey, Navigator, Transitional Studies

Maria Morales-Sanchez, Director, El Corazon Center for Teaching and Learning

Dra. María Morales-Sánchez has experience in higher education, primarily in faculty and instructional roles, teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels and working extensively with pre-service teachers and interdisciplinary programs. Her teaching and community work span classroom, carceral, and international settings. As an undergraduate student, she studied with the Mexico Solidarity Network in an intensive program focused on Mexican history, political economy, and social movements. She has since facilitated immersive learning experiences in Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico, guiding students in the study of language, culture, political economy, and environmental justice.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Morales-Sanchez has engaged in community-based initiatives focused on equity and education. She is a published author in academic journals and edited volumes.

Saxon Spillman, Part-Time Faculty

Saxon Spillman began teaching Introduction to Humanities at WVC in the fall of 2024. In this course, students study aspects of humanity, past and present, with a cross-cultural lense. A fun fact about Saxon: he loves to scramble onto high rocks and slide around on mountainous snow.  

Courtney Waller, Part-Time Faculty

Courtney Waller has been an adjunct professor at Wenatchee Valley College since fall 2016, specializing in exercise science and fitness instruction. A Creative and Professional Writing English graduate, Courtney Waller brings her creative communication skills to the classroom. Teaching since 2008, Courtney Waller integrates stress management, mindfulness, and instinctive movement into every fitness course. Courtney Waller holds certifications as an ERYT-500 Yoga Alliance instructor, Barre Fitness instructor, and Pilates Mat Instructor. Leading with positivity and a focus on building community, Courtney Waller is enthusiastic about creating supportive and engaging learning environments for all students.
