Wenatchee Valley College announced Patrick Green as the interim women’s basketball coach. The previous women’s basketball coach, Kris Groce, is currently on administrative leave through February.

Green began coaching basketball at Blaine High School under Bill Kelly, a former Hall of Fame coach from Cashmere High School. Upon taking over as head coach, he led the team to the state tournament five times in six years. He also served as a coach for the Cashmere High School summer league. He is currently self-employed as an educational consultant and published author. He returned to Cashmere in 2018.

"We're greatly appreciative of Patrick stepping in to coach the women's team,” said Lance LaVetter, WVC athletic director. “His background in teaching as an educator and as a coach is perfect to help move this team forward."

"It's been fun getting back into things and getting to know these young women. I'm just doing my best to help them get better every day and finish this season strong,” Green said. “I’m trying to help this team use what they already know and use the pieces they already have to put their best product on the court.”

Former athletic director and long-time men’s basketball coach Greg Franz as well as former long-time women’s basketball coach Rachel Goetz are serving as assistant coaches. The women’s basketball team is currently 12-13, with two games remaining in the regular season. Visit gowvc.com for more information about the team and their schedule.
