WVC to host FAFSA & WASFA completion event Oct. 26

High school seniors and others planning on taking college courses during the 2018-2019 academic year are encouraged to attend College Goal Washington, a free hands-on college financial aid event at Wenatchee Valley College Wenatchee. The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, from 5-8 p.m. in Wenatchi Hall. 

Students unable to file for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) due to immigration status may instead complete the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA), which provides state funds to low-income, non-citizen students who meet the program’s eligibility and residency requirements.

 Assistance will be offered in both English and Spanish at the event. Activities for young children will be provided. The College Assistance Migrant Program* (CAMP) will be helping with financial aid and scholarship info sessions in Spanish for new and returning students and their families.

Prospective students and families need to bring the following to the event:

• 2016 income tax forms, and those of your parents if you are a dependent student
• FAFSA pin, if available (register for your pin at www.pin.ed.gov)
• Social Security Number
• Driver’s license
• U.S. Resident Card number (if applicable)
• Untaxed income (untaxed social security benefits, TANF benefits, child support received etc.)
• Other financial information (W2’s, net worth of real estate property, value of other investments such as stocks and bonds, etc.)

WVC’s priority financial aid application deadline is March 15 for the 2018-2019 school year. FAFSA applications can be submitted as of Oct. 1.

Los estudiantes de último año de secundaria y otros que planean tomar cursos universitarios durante el año académico 2018-2019 son alentados a asistir a College Goal Washington, un evento de ayuda financiera gratuita en Wenatchee Valley College.  El evento se llevará a cabo el jueves 26 de Octubre, de 5 a 8 p.m. en Wenatchi Hall.

Los estudiantes que no pueden solicitar la Solicitud Gratuita de Ayuda Federal para Estudiantes (FAFSA) debido a su estado migratorio pueden completar la Solicitud de Washington para Ayuda Financiera del Estado (WASFA), esta solicitud proporciona fondos estatales a estudiantes no ciudadanos, de bajos ingresos que cumplen con los requisitos del programa y residencia.

Asistencia se ofrecerá en inglés y español para este evento. Se proporcionarán actividades para niños pequeños. El Programa de Asistencia Universitaria para Migrantes * (CAMP) estará ayudando con sesiones de información sobre ayuda financiera y becas en español para estudiantes y sus familias.

• Otra información financiera (W2, valor neto de la propiedad inmobiliaria, valor de otras inversiones, como acciones y bonos, etc.)

La fecha de prioridad para la solicitud de ayuda financiera de WVC es el 15 de Marzo para el año escolar 2018-2019. Las solicitudes de FAFSA se pueden enviar a partir del 1 de Octubre.
