Message from the president: WVC requiring vaccinations for employees

Update 9/1/2021: This post now contains out-of-date information. For the most up-to-date and accurate information visit wvc.edu/PublicHealth.

Dear college community,

After careful consideration of our options as defined by the CDC, the governor’s guidance in his most recent proclamation and by the example set by the state and federal governments, WVC has made the decision to require all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We feel that this requirement, in addition to the student vaccination requirement, is the best option for us to preserve the health and safety of our campus community.

Employees must document their vaccination status by the first day of fall quarter, Sept. 27, by using our free online documentation tool in ctcLink, which will be available on ctcLink August 16 and on ctcLink Mobile August 20. Waivers are available for medical, religious or philosophical reasons. We will soon provide more details about updated safety measures, how to request a waiver, and implementation of the vaccine requirement.

We are currently in communication with the WPEA union leadership regarding this decision. The AHE Faculty Union has expressed support for a vaccine requirement at WVC.

At this time, masks are still required for everyone whenever they are in WVC buildings, regardless of vaccination status, unless they are alone in a private office. Social distancing of at least three-feet will remain in place at this time.

On-campus vaccination clinics

WVC is hosting vaccine clinics on both the Wenatchee and Omak campuses. The clinics are free for students, employees and the public. Advanced registration is not required.

  • Wenatchee Pfizer vaccine clinic: First dose on Aug. 18, 12-2 p.m., second dose on Sept. 8, 12-2 p.m. Both clinics will be held at the student recreation center off Fifth St.
  • Wenatchee Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic: Sept. 9, 12-2 p.m. A single dose is needed to be considered fully vaccinated. This clinic will be held at the student recreation center off Fifth St.
  • Omak Pfizer vaccine clinic: First dose on Aug. 16, 12-2 p.m., second dose on Sept. 7, 12-2 p.m. Both clinics will be held in rooms 401 and 402 in Hazel Allen Burnett Hall.

The WA Vaccine Locator can also help you find a vaccine location and book an appointment by your zip code.

Thank you for your support as we continue to work our way back on to campus safely and responsibly.
