WVC Knights men's basketball receives Community Impact Grant from New York Life

A Knights basketball player makes a drive for the hoop.Wenatchee Valley College Knights Athletics announced that the men’s basketball team was awarded a $25,000 Community Impact Grant from New York Life. The grant will support the men’s basketball programincluding locker room upgrades, equipment and gear purchases, travel assistance, and team activities.   

The check will be presented during the halftime of the Knights men’s basketball game against Treasure Valley on Saturday, Jan. 31. The game begins at 12 p.m. in Smith Gym on the Wenatchee campus. 

“We are grateful for New York Life’s investment in our men’s basketball program, which will change our current and future athletes’ lives for the better,” said Athletic Director Greg Sparling.  

“This is all the doing of Braden Draggoo, one of our assistant coaches,” said Coach Jordan Highland. “He is a WVC basketball alum and has helped support men’s basketball for years.”  

“I’m proud to work for a company that encourages its agents and employees to devote their time, energy, and talents to support the needs and priorities of their local community,” said Braden Draggoo, financial advisor at Draggoo Financial Group. “We are pleased that our partnership will have a long-lasting impact on the Knights men’s basketball program and the students and community they serve." 

The Community Impact Grant program awards grants of up to $25,000 to local nonprofit organizations championed by New York Life agents and employees. Since the program’s inception in 2008, 850 grants totaling more than $12 million have been awarded to nonprofits across the country.
