Wenatchee Valley College is saying farewell to Foundation Executive Director Rachel Evey, who will be transitioning to the inaugural role of executive director of Our Valley, Our Future. Her last day at WVC is Sept. 30.
Evey joined WVC in July 2017 as alumni relations coordinator for the Foundation. During that time, she facilitated alumni mentorship events for students, hosted networking activities, and increased alumni awareness about events on campus. She became the Foundation executive director in 2019 after serving as the interim since October 2018.
“Since Rachel first joined Wenatchee Valley College in 2017, she has exemplified what it means to be a student-centered leader committed to expanding access to higher education,” said WVC President Faimous Harrison.
Evey's accomplishments include building strong relationships between the college and the community through fundraising and alumni events; increasing donor retention, engagement, and annual giving; enhancing WVC’s scholarship program to raise over $600,000 in annual awards for WVC students; building and executing a vision for the Foundation with the Board of Directors and Foundation team; advancing inclusive excellence by centering diversity, equity, and inclusion in her work; and serving as a community leader at WVC and throughout the Wenatchee Valley.
“It has been a great honor to serve as the WVC Foundation executive director for the last 7 years,” Evey said. “I am grateful for the incredible volunteers, board members, and staff that make the Foundation's mission a reality. The mission continues to be relevant and crucial for the advancement of WVC students, local businesses, and our region's quality of life.”
“I want to express my gratitude to Rachel, the Foundation team, and the Foundation’s Board of Directors. We will continue to work with Rachel in her new role and as one of our external advisors for the college, and I very much look forward to collaborating with her in community groups and initiatives,” said WVC President Faimous Harrison.
Evey will continue to serve as interim executive director to ensure a smooth transition. The Foundation’s executive director position has been posted to WVC’s Job Openings web page. Application screening will begin Sept. 11 and will continue until the position is closed.
