WVC International Festival imageThe second-annual International Festival returns to Wenatchee Valley College on Friday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. around the fountain area on the Wenatchee campus. The festival includes dancing, arts and crafts, and an array of foods, in addition to an evening music performance and dance. This event is free and open to the public.

Entertainment includes the Yakima Valley Aztec Dancers performing at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., a Chinese lion and dragon dance at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and a performance by the Wenatchee Irish Dancers at 1 p.m.

Cultural arts, crafts and activities for children in kindergarten through sixth grades will also be offered. Crafts include tortilla making, loteria (Mexican bingo), face painting and Australian rock painting, and creating kimono bookmark dolls, Dutch dolls, rangoli designs, African masks, Chinese dragons, straw panpipes, Egyptian cartouches and mini sumo wrestlers. Bouncy inflatables will also be available.

An array of local restaurant vendors will be on site selling foods.

The festival continues in the evening with live music and dancing from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Diamante Musical and The Next Big Thing will perform. Admission is $3 for singles, $5 per couple and $10 per family, with $1 off admission costs if participants donate a canned food item.

This is a drug- and alcohol-free event.

The International Festival is hosted by the WVC MEChA-International Club.
