Comedian Kermet Apio

Comedian Kermet Apio in Omak on May 29, 2009

Comedian Kermet Apio of Seattle will perform at the Omak Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Associated Students of Wenatchee Valley College at Omak.

After spending his childhood surfing with his buddies in Hawaii, Apio moved to Seattle where he graduated from the University of Washington. Several years later, a friend dared him to try stand-up at the Comedy Underground. Apio fell in love with comedy, and since 1990, it has been his full-time job.

Apio's credits include winning the Seattle International Comedy Competition, television appearances including Star Search, and An Evening at the Improv. He has appeared as a regular on Rewind on National Public Radio and on the national radio show Mark and Brian.

WVC at Omak students with current student I.D. cards are free; cost to the general public is $5. Those attending the performance are asked to bring a can of non-perishable food to help support the local food bank; participants will receive a free Hawaiian lei while supplies last.
