Ninth annual Write on the River Conference at WVC May 17-18

 

The ninth annual Write on the River writers conference will be held at Wenatchee Valley College on Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18. The conference includes a keynote speech by acclaimed author Jess Walter, agent and editor appointments, workshops, and a master fiction class with Larry Brooks.

Write on the River kicks off with a keynote address by author Jess Walter on Friday, May 16, at 7 p.m. in the Wenatchee Community Center, 504 South Chelan Avenue. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Walter is a New York Times Bestselling author of eight books. His latest novel, Beautiful Ruins, is this year's NCW Regional Read. He has been a finalist for the National Book Award and PEN/USA Literary Prize. The keynote speech is sponsored by Starr Ranch.

Agent and editor appointments, along with 14 workshops, will be held at Wenatchee Valley College on Saturday, May 17. Registration begins at 8 a.m. in Wenatchi Hall, with a welcoming and opening ceremonies speech at 8:45 a.m. in the campus theater in Wells Hall.

A reception and book signing with featured authors will take place in Wenatchi Hall at 4:30 p.m.

Larry Brooks will lead a fiction master class on Sunday at 9 a.m. Brooks is the creator of Storyfix.com, a popular fiction craft website.
