Joara Minharo is the political science Faculty at Wenatchee Valley College. Before coming to WVC, Minharo taught political science for nine years at Western Washington University and Whatcom Community College. She received her M.A. at W.W.U. with emphasis on Latin American Comparative Politics and U.S.-Latin American Relations. She’s an immigrant from Brazil and left her homeland in 1984 when the repressive military dictatorship of that country was still in power. She joined WVC in 2007.

Minharo has presented at events such as the second annual WVC Speaks Lecture Series, where she presented "Brazilian Democracy in Peril," and a Stand Against Racism event sponsored by WVC and the YWCA. She is also adviser for HoBiTHAC, a Wenatchee campus student club.
