Students prepare for Twisted Metal Mayhem. Summer 2017 hydraulics students will be playing Walnut Baseball for their end-of-quarter project on the Wenatchee campus on Tuesday, Aug. 15, starting at 7 p.m. This annual event is free and open to the public.

Students will be using pneumatic-powered machines to pitch and hit walnuts. They will be scored on how far the walnut goes and whether or not it shatters. There will be foul balls, balls and strikes, as well as a grand slam, in which the walnut travels past the farthest distance marker and does not break.

Students are preparing their machines this week. The game will take place at the Industrial Technology Lab, access off of Ninth St.
