Wenatchee Valley College students will have their work featured in an art exhibit at the Art Alley at Pybus Public Market in Wenatchee throughout the month of June. The WVC Art Department is proud to organize this exhibit which features work by talented students from a range of art classes, including Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking.
The exhibit opens at the Pybus Art Alley on Friday, June 6 with a Wenatchee First Friday artists’ reception from 5 – 7 p.m. Student artists include Ella Dickmann, Natalie Jensen, Priscilla Rosales, Joanna Lavaun, Sylvia Gwozdz, Faith Cowgill, and more.
Scott Bailey, WVC’s art program director and curator of the MAC Gallery shared, “we are honored to be able to showcase the work of some of WVC’s talented student artists at the Pybus Art Alley. It’s a pleasure to share the results of their hard work and creativity with the community.”
The work included in this exhibit represents a glimpse into the high caliber of art being created by current students, as well as the breadth of students and interests the college serves. The art department provides opportunities for students to grow and learn disciplines and skills that can help them bring their ideas to life by making compelling art that reflects their unique student ideas and perspectives.
The Music and Art Center (MAC) provides state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and learning and fosters a supportive environment for students of all ages and from all backgrounds to develop their skills and creativity. With courses taught by practicing professional teaching artists, the art department offers instruction in a full complement of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, design, illustration, digital design, graphic design, and art history.
The art studios at WVC are dynamic places open to a wide variety of student interests, from students who are looking to fulfill Humanities credits toward their associate degrees in another field, to those planning to go on to an advanced art degree or career, as well as local fine artists looking to further develop their creative practice. Classes are designed to bring students together to learn from one another, and feature Running Start students in high school learning alongside adults enrolled in Continuing Education. Every student is encouraged to grow in their own ways and benefit from one another’s perspectives, influences, and experiences.
“I am incredibly proud of the students who will be featured in the exhibit at the Pybus Art Alley. These students come from across North Central Washington to learn from world class faculty in first-rate facilities at Wenatchee Valley College,” shared WVC President Faimous Harrison. “I am grateful to our art department faculty for organizing this opportunity to showcase our talented students. This is a celebratory moment for our students, and we look forward to sharing it with our community here in the valley.”
Art Alley at Pybus Market features work by new artists every month and is presented in partnership with the Pybus Charitable Foundation.
