Sustainable NCW’s annual Earth Day Fair returns to Wenatchee Valley College on Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free public event will feature hands-on activities and learning opportunities to celebrate the Earth and empower our community to work together for a more resilient, equitable, and environmentally sustainable future.
The event will feature over 50 vendors and local organizations including CAFÉ, Sustainable Bike Co-op, WVC Sustainability Club, Leavenworth Fish Hatchery, Wenatchee River Institute, NCW Audubon, YMCA, YWCA and many more. The day will begin with a free yoga class at 9:30 a.m. in Van Tassell Center. Bring your own mat and register on the Sustainable NCW website. Activities will continue with bike repair and maintenance tips with Sustainable Bike Co-op, a scavenger hunt, planting activities, an instrument petting zoo, WVC Tree Tour, and many more activities.
Washington State Poet Laureate Derek Sheffield, along with Wenatchee Valley Youth Symphony, Eastmont High School Mariachi, Wenatchee High School Dance Team, and Apple Blossom Royalty, will perform at the fair throughout the day. Link Transit and Plug-In NCW will have a display of electric vehicles and buses. All activities will be held around the beautiful fountain on the college’s Wenatchee campus.
Interactive activities will abound, and children and families can take part to learn about recycling, active transportation, pollinators, local fish, flora and fauna, and much more. A variety of food trucks with vendors will sell treats while creating zero waste, in part by using compostable serving ware. A Towards Zero Waste station will be available for participants to deposit recyclable and compostable items.
“Wenatchee Valley College is honored to partner again with Sustainable NCW to host the Earth Day Fair on our campus," President Harrison said. "We are excited to welcome our community onto our campus to uplift the important work organizations across our valley are doing to create a healthier and more sustainable future for our region.”
WVC is a bike-friendly campus and additional bike parking will be available at the Sustainable Bike Co-op bike corral. Attendees are also encouraged to travel via Link Transit, by biking, or walking. Parking will be free for the Earth Day Fair. For more information, visit www.sustainablencw.org/earth-day-fair.
Sustainable NCW is grateful for the partnership with Wenatchee Valley College and our Earth Day Fair sponsors: Confluence Health, Link Transit, LocalTel, Cascade Autocenter, WM, The Nature Conservancy, Chelan PUD and others. And for the first time we have a Green Tunes Sponsor: Sunrise Rotary is sponsoring the performances and entertainment.
