WVC Speaks will host the lecture "Act Local: Political Engagement is Community Engagement" on October 9. The lecture will be presented by Kelly Anderson of WVC Transitional Studies. A public reception will take place at 5 p.m. in the Music and Art Center (MAC) lobby. The lecture will take place at 6 p.m. in the Grove Recital Hall.
Political issues and events don’t just happen in the other Washington. The best way to get involved in your community can be to get involved in local politics. Local political issues and leadership directly affect you, your family, friends and neighbors. Becoming an informed community member is the first step to making a difference where it matters most - right here at home.
There will be a Visiting Writers Series reading on Tuesday, October 23, at 7 p.m.
in The Grove Recital Hall, Music and Art Center (MAC). Writers are Mark Irwin, Susan
Rae Sampson, WVC instructor Amy Carlson and some WVC students. This event is sponsored
by the Wenatchee Valley College English Department, Icicle Creek Center for the Arts
and the WVC Foundation as part of their Community Appreciation Series.
The reading is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Parking for the event is free in the MAC, Wells Hall, Wells House and Fifth Street visitor parking lots.
